Programs

WLF has been in operation for over ten years. Over that time
period, most of the WLF programs have been geared towards
bringing people together for relationship building, racial healing,
and building a sense of community and unity.  Special initiatives
have included economic development via a carpentry training
program called “My Brother’s Keeper”, a city wide racial healing
conference called “Shall We Gather at the River”, retreats known
as “Bridge Builders”, and a website for communication between
churches about community efforts called “Houses of Worship”.
WLF has also been instrumental in sending underprivileged youth
to summer camps such as FCA and Kids Across America, and in
sending individuals from the Wilmington area to the annual CCDA
conference.  Held in a different city each year, this CCDA conference
brings people together to share ideas and resources to empower their
own communities.

Since 2008, WLF has branched out with the help of our LFA network and
new federal grants to initiate “Outside the Walls” – now a program focused
on recruiting mentors for at-risk youth.  We are now launching these efforts
using what is known as the ”Amachi” model.
