We are tired of seeing our children

    get arrested,
    have their dreams broken.
We are tired of seeing our children not suceed.
We want to help them. You can too.

    BECOME A MENTOR.

Outside The Walls (OTW) is a faith based initiative of the Wilmington Area  Leadership Foundation committed to making a difference in our community through mentoring at-risk youth.

MENTORING WORKS!

Youth with mentors are 46% less likely to get involved with drugs and alcohol, and it increases to 70% for minority children. (NOJJDP)

59% OF mentored youth improve their grades and 86% go on to higher education
(Proctor & Gamble)

80% of youth in the juvenile system do not return to the system after being mentored.
(Prison Fellowship)

Mentored Children develop better relationships....
(Rhodes, et al, 2005, Tierney and Grossman, 1995)

Mentoring not only makes a difference in a child's life, but in YOUR LIFE. Becoming a child's mentor gives you the chance to have fun, develop great friendships, become involved in your community, and more importantly the chance to
MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

We have several children waiting for someone like you to spend an hour or 2 with them.
Maybe you will go to to the park. Or the library. Or to church.
Or maybe you will just spend time with them and listen. The choice is up to you.
