421 STUDENTS IN NEW HANOVER COUNTY DROPPED OUT OF SCHOOL IN 2008.MORE THAN 2.5 MILLION YOUTH ENTER THE JUVENILLE JUSTICE CENTER A YEAR.THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 1 MILLION GANG MEMBERS IN THE U.S.YOUTH ARRESTED ARE MORE LIKELY TO ACHIEVE LESS, WORK LESS, RECEIVE LOWER WAGES, AND FACE MORE IMPRISONMENT.

Outside The Walls (OTW) is a faith based initiative of the Wilmington Area Leadership Foundation committed to making a difference in our community through mentoring at-risk youth.
MENTORING WORKS!
Youth with mentors are 46% less likely to get involved with drugs and alcohol, and it increases to 70% for minority children. (NOJJDP)
59% OF mentored youth improve their grades and 86% go on to higher education
